Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Thighs - featured image

Juicy, bone-in chicken thighs cooked in an air fryer with a shatteringly crisp skin and finished with a glossy garlic herb butter baste for maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4–6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (6–8 oz each)
  • 4–5 cloves fresh garlic, minced finely
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken thighs completely dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
  3. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, dried herbs, and paprika until combined.
  4. Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 380°F for 12 minutes.
  5. Open basket and brush chicken generously with the garlic herb butter.
  6. Increase temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for another 8-10 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Remove from air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure chicken is completely dry before seasoning for crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. If using frozen chicken, add 5-10 minutes to cooking time. For dairy-free, substitute butter with olive oil.
