A theatrical and easy-to-make Halloween punch that creates a swirling fog effect using dry ice. This recipe balances sweet and tart fruit juices with carbonated sodas for a refreshing, spooky centerpiece that is safe and simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Orange Juice (fresh-squeezed or high-quality bottled)
  • 1 cup Cranberry Juice (100% juice)
  • 1 cup Pineapple Juice
  • 12 ounces Ginger Ale
  • 12 ounces Lemon-Lime Soda
  • 1–2 pounds Dry Ice (small blocks or pellets)
  • Regular Ice Cubes (for chilling)
  • Orange slices (for garnish)
  • Lemon wheels (for garnish)
  • Cinnamon sticks (for garnish)
  • Optional: Vodka, Rum, or Whiskey (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Pour orange juice, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice into a large non-metallic punch bowl. Stir gently to combine.
  2. If using alcohol, add it now and stir again. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if necessary.
  3. Just before serving, slowly pour in the ginger ale and lemon-lime soda to preserve carbonation. Stir gently.
  4. Fill the punch bowl with regular ice cubes and let sit for 10 minutes to chill the bowl and punch.
  5. Wear thick gloves and break dry ice into small blocks or pellets (golf ball size or smaller).
  6. Carefully place dry ice pieces into the punch bowl using tongs. Watch for fog to form and spill over edges.
  7. Add fruit slices and cinnamon sticks as garnish.
  8. Serve immediately with long-handled ladles, warning guests to avoid the dry ice at the bottom.

Notes

Never consume dry ice directly as it can cause frostbite or internal damage. Ensure the dry ice has fully sublimated before drinking. Use a non-metallic bowl to prevent cracking or extreme cold. Keep the area well-ventilated. Do not store dry ice in a sealed container.
