A simple and refreshing peach sweet tea with fresh mint that balances sweet, fresh, and cool flavors perfect for summer afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 4 cups (950 ml) water
  • 2 medium ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of fresh water to a rolling boil using a kettle or saucepan (about 5 minutes).
  2. Place 4 black tea bags and fresh mint leaves in a heatproof pitcher. Pour boiling water over them and steep for 5-7 minutes until tea darkens to a rich amber color and mint releases aroma.
  3. Remove tea bags and mint leaves carefully using a slotted spoon or strainer. Press tea bags gently to extract flavor but avoid squeezing mint leaves to prevent bitterness.
  4. While tea is still warm, stir in 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice. Taste and adjust sweetness or lemon if needed.
  5. Let the sweet tea cool to room temperature, then add sliced peaches. Chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let flavors marry. Serve over plenty of ice and garnish with fresh mint if desired.

Notes

Do not oversteep mint to avoid bitterness; 5-7 minutes is ideal. Use ripe peaches for best sweetness and flavor. Sweeten while tea is warm to dissolve sugar completely. Chill tea at room temperature before refrigerating to avoid dilution. Lemon juice prevents peach slices from browning and brightens flavor. For quick chilling, use an ice bath before adding peaches.
