A simple and refreshing homemade Arnold Palmer sweet tea lemonade that balances robust black tea with bright, tangy fresh lemon juice. Perfect for cooling down on warm days and easy to make with pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags (Lipton or Twinings recommended)
  • 6 cups (1.4 liters) fresh cold water
  • ½ to ¾ cup (100 to 150 grams) granulated sugar (organic cane or brown sugar)
  • 4 medium fresh lemons, juiced (about ½ cup or 120 ml lemon juice)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: honey or agave syrup as sugar substitute
  • Optional: sparkling water to mix for fizz

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of water to a rolling boil using a kettle or pot.
  2. Place 4 black tea bags in a large heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags carefully, squeezing gently with a spoon to extract extra flavor without bitterness.
  4. Stir in ½ to ¾ cup (100 to 150 grams) granulated sugar while the tea is still hot until completely dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Let the sweetened tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate to chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Juice 4 medium lemons to yield about ½ cup (120 ml) lemon juice, straining out seeds and pulp if desired.
  7. Once the tea is chilled, add the fresh lemon juice and 2 cups (475 ml) of cold water. Stir well to combine.
  8. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Arnold Palmer sweet tea lemonade over the ice.
  9. Optional: Garnish with fresh mint sprigs or lemon slices before serving.

Notes

Steep tea for 5 to 7 minutes but avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness. Dissolve sugar while tea is hot for smooth sweetness. Chill tea fully before mixing with lemon juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or simple syrup if lemonade is too tart. Use fresh lemon juice for authentic brightness. For longer storage, keep refrigerated up to 3 days and stir before serving.
