A light and refreshing summer appetizer tray featuring sweet melon, salty prosciutto, and creamy burrata, perfect for easy entertaining or solo enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Thinly sliced prosciutto (about 4-6 ounces)
  • 1 ripe cantaloupe or honeydew melon
  • 1 ball fresh burrata cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • Fresh basil leaves (a handful)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling, about 1-2 tablespoons)
  • Honey (for drizzling, about 1 tablespoon)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
  • Optional: toasted pine nuts or walnuts (1/4 cup)
  • Optional: crusty bread or grissini sticks (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut the melon in half and scoop out the seeds. Slice the melon into thin wedges or bite-sized cubes about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. If prosciutto is not pre-sliced, carefully slice it into thin ribbons or strips about 2 inches long. Arrange loosely to keep texture.
  3. Pat the burrata dry with a paper towel. Place the whole ball on the tray or slice into halves or thirds depending on serving size. Serve at room temperature.
  4. Arrange the tray by placing burrata in the center or off to one side. Fan melon slices around it, then drape prosciutto over and between melon pieces. Scatter fresh basil leaves throughout.
  5. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil lightly over the tray, followed by a thin stream of honey. Sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper over the burrata and melon.
  6. Add optional nuts or breadsticks in small piles or bowls.
  7. Check the arrangement for balance and inviting appearance before serving.

Notes

Use the freshest burrata possible for best texture. Slice melon about 1/2 inch thick for balanced bites. Drizzle olive oil and honey lightly to avoid overpowering freshness. Assemble just before serving for best presentation and flavor. Keep melon and prosciutto refrigerated separately if prepping ahead. Burrata should be added last and served at room temperature.
