Fun Mummy Hot Dogs with Crescent Roll Wraps

fun mummy hot dogs - featured image

A fun and easy appetizer that wraps hot dogs in flaky crescent roll dough to resemble mummies, perfect for Halloween, game days, or quick weeknight snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • 8 to 10 standard beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Sesame seeds (for pupils)
  • Cooking spray (for baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough and press perforated seams together to form a single rectangle. Let sit for 5 minutes to warm slightly.
  3. Tear the dough into strips approximately 1 to 1.5 inches wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, overlapping slightly and leaving the ends exposed for the face.
  5. Place a small dot of yellow mustard on the exposed dough for eyes and press a sesame seed onto each dot.
  6. Brush the dough strips lightly with the egg wash.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  8. Cool for 2-3 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Ensure dough is not too cold to prevent tearing. Do not overwrap the hot dogs to allow room for expansion. For cheese-stuffed versions, place a square of cheddar or pepper jack cheese on the hot dog before wrapping. Can be frozen uncooked and baked from frozen with extra time.
