Ingredients

  • Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 2 cups / 200g)
  • All-purpose flour (1 cup / 120g)
  • Butter, cold and cubed (4 tablespoons / 60g)
  • Salt (½ teaspoon)
  • Water, ice-cold (2-3 tablespoons)
  • Apple slices (1 large apple, cored and thinly sliced)
  • Seedless grapes (1 cup / 150g)
  • Strawberries, hulled and halved (1 cup / 150g)
  • Blueberries (½ cup / 75g)
  • Banana slices (1 medium banana)
  • Plain Greek yogurt (½ cup / 120ml)
  • Honey (1 tablespoon)
  • Avocado (1 ripe, mashed)
  • Lemon juice (1 teaspoon)
  • Cinnamon (a pinch, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese with 1 cup all-purpose flour and ½ teaspoon salt. Toss to mix evenly.
  2. Cut 4 tablespoons cold, cubed butter into the mix using your fingers or a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add 2-3 tablespoons of ice-cold water, stirring gently until the dough just clumps. Wrap in plastic and chill for 20 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch (6mm) thickness. Cut into small squares or shapes and transfer to the baking sheet.
  6. Bake crackers for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden and cheese aroma fills the kitchen.
  7. Let crackers cool completely on a rack to crisp up.
  8. For the yogurt dip, stir ½ cup plain Greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon honey and a pinch of cinnamon.
  9. For the avocado dip, mash 1 ripe avocado with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and a pinch of salt if desired.
  10. Arrange cheese crackers, fresh fruit slices, and small bowls of each dip on a large platter attractively.

Notes

Keep butter cold to ensure flaky crackers. Chill dough before baking to improve texture. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup. Swap fruits seasonally or based on preference. For gluten-free, substitute almond flour. For dairy-free, use vegan cheese and coconut yogurt.
