These firecracker jello shots combine vodka and Pop Rocks candy for a fizzy, fun party treat that’s quick and easy to make. Perfect for last-minute celebrations, they offer a playful twist on classic jello shots with a popping sensation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin powder (about 7 grams or 2 1/2 teaspoons)
  • 1 packet flavored gelatin mix (85 grams) – cherry or strawberry recommended
  • 1 cup boiling water (240 ml)
  • 3/4 cup cold vodka (180 ml)
  • 1/4 cup cold fruit juice (60 ml) – lemon, lime, or cranberry juice
  • 23 packs Pop Rocks candy (1015 grams) – cherry or watermelon flavor suggested
  • Optional garnish: fresh berries or mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup boiling water into a large heatproof bowl.
  2. Sprinkle in both the unflavored gelatin and flavored gelatin powders.
  3. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved with no granules visible.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup cold vodka and 1/4 cup cold fruit juice gently to combine without creating bubbles.
  5. Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into shot molds, filling each about 3/4 full.
  6. Place the molds in the refrigerator and chill for 2 to 4 hours until firm.
  7. Just before serving, sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon of Pop Rocks on top of each shot.
  8. Serve chilled and enjoy the popping sensation.

Notes

Add Pop Rocks just before serving to preserve the fizz. Avoid adding vodka before gelatin dissolves to ensure proper setting. Use silicone molds for easy removal. If shots don’t set, reduce vodka or chill longer. For non-alcoholic version, substitute vodka with sparkling water and use fruit juice.
