This easy football charcuterie board with pretzels and cheese is a crowd-pleasing game day snack that comes together in under 20 minutes. Featuring warm soft pretzels, crunchy pretzel varieties, creamy cheeses, and tangy dips, it’s perfect for feeding a crowd with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups soft pretzel bites (store-bought or homemade, warmed slightly before serving)
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists (the crunchy kind for texture contrast)
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks (great for dipping into thicker spreads)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel crisps or snaps (adds a lighter, crunchier option)
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced into thin triangles or cubes
  • 6 ounces smoked gouda, sliced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 4 ounces brie or camembert (optional)
  • 1/2 cup beer cheese dip (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup cucumber slices
  • 1/4 cup pickles or cornichons
  • 1/4 cup mixed olives (optional)
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm the soft pretzel bites (5 minutes). If using store-bought soft pretzel bites, warm them according to package directions — usually about 2-3 minutes in the oven at 350°F (175°C) or 30 seconds in the microwave. You want them warm but not hot. Let them cool slightly before adding to the board so they don’t make everything else soggy.
  2. Prepare the cheeses (3 minutes). Slice your cheddar and gouda into thin triangles or bite-sized cubes. For the brie, leave it whole or cut into wedges. Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving so it’s spreadable. If you’re short on time, microwave it for 10 seconds to soften.
  3. Arrange the bowls (2 minutes). Place your small bowls for dips, honey, and mustard on the board first. This creates anchor points for the rest of the arrangement. Space them out so there’s room for everything else. I usually put the beer cheese dip in the center and the honey and mustard on opposite corners.
  4. Add the cheeses (3 minutes). Place your cheese slices around the bowls. Fan them out in small clusters rather than lining them up. Leave some space between cheese types so people can grab what they want without mixing flavors accidentally.
  5. Add the pretzels (4 minutes). Scatter the warm soft pretzel bites in small piles around the board. Then add the crunchy mini twists and pretzel sticks in separate clusters. Don’t pile them too high — you want people to be able to grab individual pieces easily.
  6. Fill in with accompaniments (3 minutes). Add the cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, pickles, and olives in the remaining gaps. This fills the visual space and adds color.
  7. Garnish and serve (1 minute). Sprinkle fresh herbs over the board if using. Add a small drizzle of honey over the brie or gouda. Serve immediately while the pretzels are still warm and the cheese is at its best texture.

Notes

For best results, let cheeses sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes before serving. Warm the soft pretzels just before serving to keep them soft. If making ahead, prepare everything except the soft pretzel bites and add them warm right before serving. The board can be prepped up to 24 hours in advance (minus soft pretzels) and stored covered in the refrigerator.
