This easy copycat recipe recreates the creamy, spiced pumpkin cream cold foam from Starbucks at home in under five minutes. It’s cheaper, faster, and tastes even better than the drive-thru version.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) 100% pure pumpkin puree (e.g., Libby’s)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (1530 ml) vanilla syrup (store-bought or homemade)
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled slightly
  • Ice (enough to fill a 16-ounce glass)
  • Optional: splash of milk of choice

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee. Start by making a cup of strong coffee or pulling a shot of espresso. Let it cool for a minute or two while you make the foam.
  2. Combine the foam ingredients. In a small bowl or measuring cup, add ¼ cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons whole milk, 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup (add the second tablespoon later if you want it sweeter), ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and a tiny pinch of salt.
  3. Froth until thick. Insert your frother and blend on low speed for about 15 seconds to combine everything. Then switch to high speed and froth for another 20-30 seconds. You’re looking for a texture that’s thick and creamy, like a loose whipped cream. It should hold its shape when you lift the frother out.
  4. Fill your glass with ice. Grab your favorite glass and fill it to the top with ice.
  5. Pour the coffee. Pour your brewed coffee over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top for the foam. If you like a creamier coffee, add a splash of milk now.
  6. Spoon the foam on top. Using a spoon, gently dollop the pumpkin cream foam on top of the coffee. Start around the edges and work your way to the center.
  7. Finish with a sprinkle. Dust the top with a tiny pinch of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for looks and extra flavor.
  8. Serve immediately. This drink is best enjoyed right away, while the foam is still thick and cold. Give it a gentle stir if you want the flavors to meld, or sip it through the foam for that classic cold foam experience.

Notes

For best results, use cold heavy cream and chill the bowl for 10 minutes before frothing. If your pumpkin puree is watery, pat it dry with a paper towel before using. The foam does not store well; make only what you plan to drink. For a dairy-free version, use full-fat coconut cream and oat milk. For a sugar-free version, use sugar-free vanilla syrup.
