A fun and easy homemade dessert that combines the gooey goodness of s’mores with fresh bananas, toasted marshmallows, and melted chocolate for a cozy campfire-inspired treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows or large marshmallows cut in half
  • 4 ounces milk or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
  • 4 sheets graham crackers, roughly broken into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • 23 scoops vanilla ice cream (optional)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts), caramel sauce, fresh berries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler to high and let it warm up for about 5 minutes.
  2. Peel and slice the bananas lengthwise in half, then place them cut-side up on a baking sheet or oven-safe dish.
  3. Sprinkle the broken graham cracker pieces evenly over the bananas.
  4. Scatter the chopped chocolate over the bananas and graham crackers.
  5. Top everything generously with mini marshmallows or halved large marshmallows in a single layer.
  6. Lightly brush the marshmallows with melted butter to encourage browning and add richness.
  7. Place the baking sheet about 4-6 inches from the broiler and broil for 2-3 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown with some darker spots. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from oven and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the melted chocolate and marshmallows.
  9. Transfer the banana splits to plates and top with scoops of vanilla ice cream and optional toppings like chopped nuts or caramel drizzle.
  10. Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast of warm marshmallows and cold ice cream.

Notes

Use firm bananas to avoid mushiness. Watch marshmallows closely under the broiler to prevent burning. For dairy-free or vegan versions, substitute dairy-free chocolate, marshmallows, and ice cream. Optional toppings like nuts or caramel sauce add extra flavor and texture. Assemble all banana splits on the baking sheet to broil together for multiple servings.
