Crispy Witch Finger Cookies: 3-Ingredient Halloween Treat

Crispy Witch Finger Cookies - featured image

A spooky and easy Halloween cookie hack using sugar cookie dough and almonds to create realistic witch fingers with wrinkled skin and nail details.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Sugar Cookie Dough (homemade or refrigerated tube)
  • 1215 whole Raw Almonds
  • Red or Black Gel Food Coloring
  • Flour (for dusting hands and surface)

Instructions

  1. Let refrigerated dough sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until pliable. Cut into 2-tablespoon portions.
  2. Roll each portion into a smooth ball, then gently roll on a floured surface to form a tapered cylinder resembling a finger.
  3. Place fingers on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Use a small knife or spoon back to gently press lines into the dough at the knuckle and tip areas to create wrinkles.
  5. Press the pointed end of an almond into the thinner tip of the dough finger, embedding it halfway.
  6. Dip the exposed tip of the almond into gel food coloring to resemble a dirty or bloody nail.
  7. Chill the tray in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up the dough.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to crisp up.

Notes

Chilling the dough before baking is essential to prevent spreading and ensure the almonds stay attached. Use gel food coloring to avoid altering dough texture. For nut-free versions, substitute almonds with raisins or chocolate chips.
