This recipe delivers perfectly flat, crispy bacon strips using an air fryer, eliminating curling and uneven cooking. It’s quick, easy, and mess-free, perfect for busy mornings or adding a crunchy bacon touch to meals.

Ingredients

  • Bacon slices (thick-cut recommended)
  • Optional: pinch of black pepper or smoked paprika
  • Optional: cooking spray or parchment paper for air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it warm up for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or spray lightly with cooking spray, avoiding blocking air vents.
  3. Lay the bacon slices flat in a single layer in the basket, ensuring slices do not overlap.
  4. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 6 minutes to crisp the first side.
  5. Using tongs, gently flip each bacon slice to the other side to keep them flat.
  6. Cook for another 4-6 minutes at 400°F (200°C), checking at 4 minutes for desired crispiness.
  7. Remove bacon and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.
  8. Serve immediately or cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the basket to prevent curling and uneven cooking. Flip bacon halfway through cooking to keep it flat. Use thick-cut bacon for best results. Save rendered bacon fat for cooking other dishes if desired. Adjust cook time slightly for turkey bacon or thinner slices. Rotate basket halfway through cooking if your air fryer cooks unevenly.
