A quick and easy taco ring made with seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and buttery crescent rolls, perfect for parties and casual snack times.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (about 1 oz/28g)
  • 1 can (8 oz/227g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) salsa
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) chopped green onions
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (60g) sliced black olives
  • Optional: Sour cream or guacamole for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat your skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the beef along with 2/3 cup (160ml) water. Stir well, then simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meat nicely. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Open the can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Press the perforations together to form one large circle.
  5. Using a knife or kitchen scissors, cut the dough into 12-16 strips, leaving a small circle intact in the middle.
  6. Spread the seasoned beef mixture evenly over the dough circle, keeping it inside the small uncut center. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the beef, then add chopped green onions and olives if using.
  7. Fold each crescent strip over the filling, twisting slightly as you fold to create a braided look. Pinch the ends to seal.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let the taco ring rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving with sour cream or guacamole on the side.

Notes

If crescent dough edges brown too quickly, loosely cover the ring with foil halfway through baking. Drain excess beef fat to avoid sogginess. Let beef mixture cool slightly before layering to prevent dough from becoming too soft. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
